Welcome to BEAUTIFUL BRUGMANSIAS !!

Our Beautiful BrugmansiaBlog is dedicated to showing just how well brugmansia can be grown in our US zone 6/5 climate.

We grow some of the best brugmansias in the world including our own gorgeous hybrids, and also rare, species, and heirloom varieties.

Currently, we grow over 300 different brugmansia varieties. As each exquisite beauty comes to bloom and we have good photos, we will post them here so others can enjoy, too!

  1. One of my all time favorite Brugmansia is Rosenquartz. Another favorite is Amber Rose,(oldie but goodie in my opinion, Goldtraum,Butterfly Pink, love the single Suaveolens and their wonderful aroma. When hybridising it's important to concentrate on any and all good traits. For example if everyone's most important development in a new cross is to make a double, tripple flower, there also needs to be those of us who will and can breed some other great treats as well. For example scent is very important. So try breeding a highly scented variety with your new double. Hybridising in disease resistance or cure, maybe a beautiful variety has that beautiful tripple one of a kind bloom like Phenominal. However the problem is the flowers are born on a very weak plant. Not very vigorous to grow but of course no one wants to get rid of that beautiful flower. Well, breed with a particularly robust plant variety, try breeding in scent. If we dont pay attention to these other important breeding must do/s and don'ts.To many rush to name their new named variety named so they may have the glory. Just make sure it's not "rushed to market" take some time a few years and really come up with something exceptionally extraordinary by following the breeding though. If anyone can help.me track down a healthy "Goldtraum" I would pay reasonably for anyone's effort. Another good example is actually the Goldtraum also itself. Prone to several diseases I'd like to breed strength back into this gal. Disease resistance AmberRose can be another good strong healthy one which would allow you to breed in some health and strength items. Mine was 2x2ft square area basicly. Hundreds of blooms. Buttery Yellow, widened calyx, just beautiful. Mine lasted a single week in Florida. Stem rot Fusarium and who know how many other pathogens claim the health of this plant. Instead of doubles, triples, quads/// can someone help me find one and breed some survivability back into such a great Brugmansia Variety "GoldTraum" personally if I had to.have only three Brug. Variety is Rosenquartz, GT, Goldness Cornette, any species variety for breeding, Jinny Lynd ok there is way more than 4 it impossible to choose. : ) Alice is one of the few left selling that you can trust. Surely miss Mr. JT Sessions he had some great plants back in late 00s. I certainly miss you JT. Fred Sommers is Great!! Thanks!! See my very own plants and photographs @ Dave's garden. Look for the Rosenquartz section, not only was that my very first Brugmansia for me but I also took the pictures. Many with back lighting, some with shadows. Some.just showing this amazing bloom cycle on this variety. Cooler fall temps bring Dark Raspberry colored flowers. Are you out there RJ?? Please contact me

  2. PS: Are there any horticultureists in BGI, Or any other Brug related specialty groups. From my understanding and I could be wrong but from what I understand there is a way possible to clone Brugs. Using stem tip cuttings. Some on the cellular level. The right training, the will to have a passion to do so. Can you imagine no more sick or declining favorite Brugmansia? The plant material removed is so small that it's actually free from disease and other issues. Do we have any geneticists out there who could run some courses, so anyone interested could start learning and creating a gene pool for generations to come. Most Rose's if not all of them have lost their wonderful rose scent. When's the last time a strawberry at the store was as hard as a rock, Pale and for most part TASTLESS!! MY POINT BEING IS THE DAY WILL COME AND WE WILL WONDER WHERE ARE THOSE SWEET N JUICY DEEP SCARLET STRAWBERRIES?? NOW STRAWBERRIES CAN BE AS HARD AS AN APPLE!!! NOT VERY APPETISING TO ME!!! Greenbeans used to be sweet, I think any understand what I'm saying.
